The USB Turntable Making Old Music Better

Tag: Generaladmin @ 9:05 am

There was a time when the turntable or old record player was hidden away in a corner and deemed never to see the light of day again. But now with the popularity of MP3 and digital formats the old records are being brought back to life and breathing new life on things like iPods and MP3 players.

So what do you need in order to convert your old records to a 21st century music format? Well it’s a lot easier than you think. First of all you’ll need a computer and a USB Turntable. The turntable behaves like a normal record player in that you can play your 33, 45s and 78s, but it also has a USB connection which allows you to plug it into your computer. Don’t worry! All computers now have loads of USB connections.

The ones you need to look out for are the ION USB Turntable which is a very popular make and once you’ve connected it to your computer, you run special software that does the conversion to MP3 or other formats such as MP4.

Plus if you also have 78 records in your collection then you can record at 33 or 45 and the software will be able to convert to the right format.

With so many makes and variations to choose from you will need to choose wisely. And if you want to do a more professional job the you can also get one which allows you to plug your iPod directly into the Turntable, so you don’t even need your computer.

Other makes to look out for include the KAM USB turntable which includes a very professional double-deck as used by DJs.

So, if you have a loft full of old records that you haven’t listened to in years then bring them back to life with a USB Turntable.

Three Tips to Get Great Home Solar Energy

Tag: Generaladmin @ 7:14 am

One of the trends these days is using home solar power. If you haven’t been taking advantage of this alternative power source yet, you may be missing out on one of the best ways to lower your electricity bill. How do you take advantage of the sun to provide your power needs?

Contact the Experts

There are now a couple of companies that specialize in harnessing the sun’s power. Large solar power companies can take charge of providing you with full solar panels enough to power your entire home. They can also take care of installation, maintenance and other user concerns. The only catch is that professionally made and professionally installed panels can initially be very expensive. You may have to spend thousands of dollars for your home panels.

Many individuals though do not mind the initial high costs. This is simply because using home solar energy pays off instantly. If your entire home is solar powered, you may never get electric bills again. Moreover, your electric company may end up having to send you a check instead when your meter starts to run backwards. The initial expense is worth it.

Build Your Own

It is understandable though if you are unable to afford full panels. An alternative option would be for you to build your own solar panels. There are now some kits sold online that will help you build a functioning panel for as low as $200 dollars. The instructions are made for average non-technical individuals and the materials can be found in any regular hardware store. You can use your panel to provide power to some of your appliances so that you don’t have to rely solely on the electricity provided by your power company.

Gradually Increase Your Panels

Once you have successfully made a solar panel, you can make more. Since this would entail more expenses, you can save up for succeeding panels and add them gradually. After some time, you may be able to come up with a full home solar energy source that can completely cut your dependence on your local power provider.

Twitter Mania – Follow Me And I Will Follow You Back

Tag: Generaladmin @ 11:42 am

Twitter, the social networking and micro-blogging service that allows its users to send and read other users’ updates (otherwise known as tweets), which are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length, has no-doubt become quite a phenomenon. It is widely rumored that Twitter turned down an acquisition offer from Facebook for $500 Million. A recent TechCrunch report stated that Twitter’s valuation has reached in excess of $250 Million. There are reports that state that the reach of Twitter has exceeded that of Digg in a very short span of time.  With an excess of 5 Million users and over 50 Million monthly visits, everyone’s tweeting!

Needless to say, what’s made Twitter a revolution is its ease of use.  From signup to search, from following others to getting followed by others, to tweet or to retweet, to use the web or the phone, Twitter is just plain simple.  Add to this the power of Twitter APIs, there are hundreds of tools, utilities and apps that continue to spring from nowhere.  Today, there is a twitter tool just about to do anything you want on twitter.

Some use twitter for chit-chat.  Ranging from “I just got up, and am off to a shower” to “Please get out and vote for me”, much is being said in 140 characters or less.  Folks are asking questions and people in hundreds respond.  Advertisers market their products, Affilaites promote products, News sources announce breaking news and Bloggers post their blogs as tweets – whether for personal or for business, Twitter is seen everywhere and used by everyone.

It has never been easier to build a network of followers.  Never before has it been so easy to build a network of a 1,000 followers who follow what you have to say and are ready to receive a message from you.  And best of all, it costs nothing to do it!  Just think about what you would have to do to get a following of a 1,000 people – whether it is cold calling, or mail advertisement, or opt-in email marketing or a paid squeeze page lead capture – it takes a lot of time, money and effort.

The benefits being obvious, everyone is looking to build a wide follower base.  There is a widely prevalent phenomenon on Twitter that is increasing in popularity – “Follow Me and I will Follow You Back“.  This simply means that if you follow me on twitter, I will follow you right back.  There are two schools of thought on this.

The first school of thought is that it is not appropriate to follow everyone that follows you.  The second school of thought obviously thinks not.  The idea of not following everyone that follow you has some logic to it.  You could think of some parallels to this – “Buy my product, I will buy your product back” or “Subscribe to my newsletter, I will subscribe to your newsletter back”.  One could also argue that if you follow 1,000’s of people, you really can’t do justice, as multiple tweets from each one (assuming each one is active) would just be information overload and you simply can’t follow any tweet, giving it justice.  Both of these arguments could be argued as having some merit.  But, also not.

Think for a moment why people use Twitter.  True, one of the primary objectives is for you say what you are doing now and for others to tune in (or “follow”), but Twitter can be used for reasons well beyond that.  Twitter is a wonderful networking tool, where you can build relationships with others and communicate not just now, but for months and years to come.  You can sure tweet for the moment, but you can just as well message the other person in private.  And if it is true that Twitter is a social networking tool, and if others have something of value to offer to you in return, there is nothing unusual about you tuning into their message as well.  After all, you only stand to benefit!

The school of thought that says “Follow Me and I will Follow You Back” does has merit.  Just because two parties follow each other, there is no commitment or obligation.  Either party can ignore tweets, or can search through tweets by name, by RSS feeds or utilizing one of the infinite tools available, if the ongoing tweets are missed.  Either party can message each other, and either party can choose to review or ignore such messages.  And if one does not wants to be bothered, that could be done as well.  Worst case, one could unfollow and/or block others as well. Just as anything else in life, if you use the tool effectively, you will only stand to benefit.

Twitter is real.  Twitter works.  Twitter is the tool of the century – probably bigger and better than any other Social Networking or Web 2.0 tool.  Embrace it!

And if “Follow” bothers you, because you simply can’t follow 1,000’s of people (which I agree with and in that context, Twitter allowing one to follow 2,000 people may not make sense either, unless most are not active, in which case they should not be on Twitter in the first place!), then follow others on Twitter (and be followed) so you can use it to “Send and Receive Messages“.   Again, there is no better tool, whether online or offline, that allows you to be able to send and receive messages to such a wide audience that has mutually agreed to receive and send messages to each other.

If you agree with this thought process, maybe we should rephrase the theme to “Receive Me and I will Receive You Back“.    And, maybe we are not just talking Twitter, but rather an enhanced Twitter, one that is naturally Two-way, maybe we are talking Twowitter

Your Bicycle Questions Answered!

Tag: Generaladmin @ 8:15 am

The bicycle is the most efficient way of transportation ever invented. It transforms your energy into movement. But how does it work?

Bicycles are simple and elegant machines that help people get from place to place. It is a lot easier to understand than a motorbike or a car. All the parts of a bicycle are visible, so we can actually see the working parts interacting before our eyes.

Bicycles essentially work on a combination of gears, wheels and people power. Two pedals are connected to one gear, usually at the bottom center of the bicycle. When you push the pedals of your bike around once, the pedal sprocket-the wheel with teeth to which the pedals are attached-goes around once, too. But it pulls a chain along, one that is connected to a much smaller sprocket (with fewer teeth to grip each link of the chain) in the center of your bike’s rear wheel. This smaller sprocket moves around a number of times for each single turn of your pedals, moving your bike wheels a lot faster than you’re moving your feet!

Some bicycles have several “speeds,” which means that they have a number of gears (called derailleurs) that vary the rate at which their wheels turn. These extra sprockets are located at the pedals and rear wheel of a bike, where levers move the driving chain sideways, from one to another. A special spring system keeps the chain tight when it changes from a larger to a smaller sprocket. Although you might think that a rider would always want the wheels of his or her bike to move as fast as possible for each pedal turn, that is not always the case. When going uphill, for instance, a rider can get more force out of a wheel that turns fewer times, making the task easier.

In order to turn right or left, all you have to do is turn the handlebar to the desired side, isn’t it? Wrong! Cyclists turn using their body weight, the handlebar is just for counterbalancing. In fact, in order to run left, you turn a little to the right at first, which will push your weight to the left. This is called countersteering and takes places instinctively. Do it on purpose, and you will fall!

The bicycle has been around as a means of transportation since the 19th century. There are probably over 1 billion worldwide, and they remain a popular way to get around and a great form of exercise.

Acne Cures Vary And Treatments Continue To Evolve

Tag: Generaladmin @ 8:50 am

Medical researchers are working on new drugs to treat pimples, particularly topical antibiotics to replace some of those in current use. As with many other types of bacterial infections, doctors are finding that, over time, the bacteria that are associated with acne are becoming resistant to treatment with certain antibiotics.

Medications only hid the problem for a little while before the acne came back worse than ever. Expensive medications only cost me money and burned by skin. Treatment with blue light therapy is still being monitored for overall safety and effectiveness. So far, few complications from this therapy have been reported, but long-term effects are not yet known.

Treatment of acne centers on one thing and one thing only: keeping the pores of the skin clean and open. You can’t do that with drugs or facial creams. Pimple removal is something that should always be left up to a trained doctor in an antiseptic environment. In most cases, the first treatment that a doctor will recommend is a topical cream. These creams, like all acne treatments, do not cure acne, but rather help manage the symptoms of the acne. Pimples are inevitable and hard to avoid, especially during puberty.

Dermatologists regularly get asked how to become acne free by eager patients. Cosmetic agents should be used carefully. Diet rich in vitamin A and omega 3 fatty acids (fish and fish oils) is useful in prevention of acne. Cosmetic preparations containing lanolin and paraffin are known to exacerbate acne. The search for a herbal acne remedy goes on.

Teenagers suffer from acne the most, with 80% of them developing the condition at some time during their teens. Why, though, does acne plague young people at the very time when they are conscious of looking their best? Teens would shell out $275 right now to never have another pimple again, according to a recent survey. It’s an interesting figure, but it occurs to me that acne treatment isn’t easy to quantify in a lump sum.

Disclaimer: This posting is based on information freely available in the popular press and medical journals that deal with acne. Here’s How You Can Get a Six Pack

Tag: Generaladmin @ 9:40 pm

We have all seen the pictures. Lean, muscular, attractive-looking guys with 6 pack abs, all of their abdominal muscles, showing and clearly defined. Great-looking gals with flat, athletic-looking midsections. We saw them and we couldn’t help but be a little envious. We thought, “I wish I could look like that…!”

All of us might have wondered briefly just what it would take to get into that kind of shape. How would you go about it? How do you get 6 pack abs like that? It must take a whole lot of sit-ups, leg-raises and other exercises to get yourself to look like that…

Actually, it’s not really difficult. The necessary ingredients are first, a good exercise and diet regimen, from a professional who knows what he’s doing. Second, following the plan for the 10-12 weeks it takes to get there. Third, sticking with it until you have reached your goal.

Go into this with an open mind. Get rid of what you have read or what you may have been told by “armchair experts” who don’t really know. Rely on the advice of real experts who have successfully trained others. Inform yourself thoroughly from reliable sources, from material written by people who have actually done it themselves.

If you want to get 6 pack abs yourself, you first need to find out exactly how to do this in the fastest, easiest way. All the details of what you would need can be found by clicking on any of the links in this blog-posting. Hey, give it a try? It doesn’t cost anything to look! (and it costs very little to actually get the detailed info you need…

Web Design, increase your usability

Tag: Generaladmin @ 10:10 am

It is easy to make a dorky web page. It’s also easy to make a very nice, clean, professional-looking web page even if you don’t have much design experience. Often the difference, even for beginning designers, is simply a matter of eliminating certain features that are guaranteed to make a page look amateurish. I’ve been going through the list of things that people – designers and non-designers – from around the country have cited as the things that make the difference between a well-designed and a poorly designed web page.

Here’s a list of ten additional design elements that will increase the usability of virtually all sites:

  1. Place your name and logo on every page and make the logo a link to the home page (except on the home page itself, where the logo should not be a link: never have a link that points right back to the current page).
  2. Provide search if the site has more than 100 pages.
  3. Write straightforward and simple headlines and page titles that clearly explain what the page is about and that will make sense when read out-of-context in a search engine results listing.
  4. Structure the page to facilitate scanning and help users ignore large chunks of the page in a single glance: for example, use grouping and subheadings to break a long list into several smaller units.
  5. Instead of cramming everything about a product or topic into a single, infinite page, use hypertext to structure the content space into a starting page that provides an overview and several secondary pages that each focus on a specific topic. The goal is to allow users to avoid wasting time on those subtopics that don’t concern them.
  6. Use product photos, but avoid cluttered and bloated product family pages with lots of photos. Instead have a small photo on each of the individual product pages and link the photo to one or more bigger ones that show as much detail as users need. This varies depending on type of product. Some products may even need zoomable or rotatable photos, but reserve all such advanced features for the secondary pages. The primary product page must be fast and should be limited to a thumbnail shot.
  7. Use relevance-enhanced image reduction when preparing small photos and images: instead of simply resizing the original image to a tiny and unreadable thumbnail, zoom in on the most relevant detail and use a combination of cropping and resizing.
  8. Use link titles to provide users with a preview of where each link will take them, before they have clicked on it.
  9. Ensure that all important pages are accessible for users with disabilities, especially blind users.
  10. Do the same as everybody else: if most big websites do something in a certain way, then follow along since users will expect things to work the same on your site. Remember Jakob’s Law of the Web User Experience: users spend most of their time on other sites, so that’s where they form their expectations for how the Web works.

Booking a Marbella Apartments Holiday

Tag: Generaladmin @ 9:48 am

It’s never been easier to book your private holiday apartments in Marbella Spain these days due to the excellent range of professional websites providing property owners with numerous opportunities to rent out their villas to holiday makers seeking to book a holiday.

With package holiday firms finding it increasingly difficult to attract customers due to the perceived high profits being made by the likes of Thomson Holidays, Thomas Cook etc. The public are realising that web sites such as those specialising in regions such as Marbella, Nerja and Javea all provide a variety of villas at a range of price points to suit the individual looking for more freedom in their holiday villa vacation.

In fact the ease in which low cost flights can be booked separately has revolutionised the freedom to book holiday apartments etc at a far higher quality than you can expect to receive from a traditional package holiday supplier!   The result of which is that even the large holiday firms are developing their services to include separate appartment options with and without flights to more varied destinations in a hope to keep the holiday maker.

its a personal choice of course when it comes to booking a holiday, in my experience a like for like holiday – one being a package holiday – the other being a private apartment rental, the level of comfort and quality furnishings typically found in private holiday apartments with firms such as RentIn-Marbella or RentIn-Nerja for instance is eqivalent to a  four star or five star package holiday resort.  Yet is usually between 20%-50% cheaper than the eqivalent standard of a traditional package holiday when all costs are added together.

All the Areas For Immediate Use in Todays Real Estate Arena

Tag: Generaladmin @ 9:25 am

Investing arenas are cyclical and always has been. A well known nationwide study was published that said real estate had completely maxed out in Vegas and there was no where for it to head but down. Does that seem current? If so, you may want to consider it again, that article was published a few decades ago! Has real estate increased in value in Las Vegas in the last 50 years? Oh yeah! Well does that mean real estate is going to keep heading up like it has the last several years? Don’t plan on it, none the less, the benefit of this type of media coverage and how it is invaluable for real estate investing.

But did you think about this: do you know any very accomplished property investors that are worried of unstable property prices? Actually to the opposite, smart investors see when real estate is unstable it just filters out beginners which means more deals.

What is important to see is just as markets are cyclical, so are the amount of sellers and buyers in a certain area. You really need to use more profitable strategies for real estate wholesaling in the current trends like the creative real estate system by Matthew Sorensen. Though you can use other conventional investing angles, flipping houses correctly is a good way to do it in today’s market.
