I couldn't agree more. It's about the hardest thing to shop for since they all look the same - a big rectangle with a sale tag hanging from it. But when you do get a chance to compare the construction of the Serta matts against similarly priced competitors you can really start seeing the gap widen. The coil system has been mentioned but one thing that struck me was how everything was put together. In almost all other matts I looked into, if they had a foam encased edge support the thick border rod had been removed. Not Serta. They leave the border rod in to truly make the entire mattress a useable sleep surface. Also, all the foams are connected starting at the foam encased edge. You'd be surprised how many mattresses I researched that looked simply like a bag of foams - nothing connected. How is that going to hold up? In the end I purchased a Perfect Day and I'm getting the best nights' sleep I ever had. Until someone comes along and does it better ( good luck ) I'll be on a Serta mattress.

I believe the Perfect Sleeper product is the best built product for the money. It will of course depend on the retailer you are shopping, but price point to price point there is more in the Serta Perfect Sleeper at each level than the competitors bed. The top quilting actually has what is called Advanced Comfort Quilt which is a patented feature specific to Serta Perfect sleepers, Vera Wang and Perfect Day models. It revolutionized the bedding world and adds value to the beds that the competition has yet to be able to counter. The Advanced Comfort Quilt is an egg crate style foam that relieves pressure point disturbance and allows for a restful, tossing and turning free nights sleep. The innersprings are amazingly strong in comparison to other top brands such as Sealy and Simmons, resulting in an impressive low rate of return and very little motion from side to side which some brands talk mostly about to avoid the talk about their high return rates. The Serta product is a combination of comfort & support. I believe in Serta, I sleep on Serta and so do my children. Get one for yourself, you won't be disapointed but remember the number one thing is COMFORT! Make sure you find a Sales Professional who takes the time to ask you how your sleeping and does a comfort test with you to find the right comfort level. If you can make room in the budget I recommend looking at Serta's Vera Wang collection or the Premium Perfect Day collection. These beds will have a higher price upfront (well worth it) but a much lower cost to you over time. They will outlive the competitors beds by years and offer the best comfort layers you can find such as Kool Comfort Memory foam and Talalay Latex. Kool Comfort memory foam is an open cell structured foam which breaths cooler than Tempurpedic and offers the same benefits. Talalay Latex is the "Gold Standard" of latex and has a level of pressure relief, durability, support and comfort that is head and shoulders above the rest. Remember, if you are lucky enough to get 8 hours of sleep a night, that's a third of your life that you sleep in your bed. You deserve the best bed your budget will afford. If you don't get those 8 hours a night find a way to get it! But if you cannot, then its even more important for you that whatever you get is restful and refreshing. Don't make the mistake of not investing in yourself, go get a new Serta bed NOW!
